Highlights of the top pros (and possible cons) of our program:

Pros:

  • Graduate debt-free!
  • 100% tuition covered to any accredited Med School
  • Most Other education-related expenses covered (i.e…books, computers, tutors)
  • Monthly Stipend through Med School of over $2200 per month
  • $20k bonus for 4 year scholarship recipients
  • Two chances to match (Air Force and Civilian)
  • Zero military obligations while in school – focus on studying, not finances/work
  • Commissioned as Air Force 2nd Lieutenant with many military benefits during Med School
  • Med School health/dental insurance requirements covered by Air Force
  • Paid as Air Force Captain/O-3 (to include tax free housing allowance, food allowance, full base privileges, gym, clothing allowance, Blended Retirement System, etc…) while in residency

Possible Cons:

  • Will attend Commissioned Officer Training (COT) either prior to Med School start or after first year –https://www.airforce.com/education/military-training/cot
  • Will commit to 3-4 years of active duty Air Force after Residency.
  • No early guarantee of geographic location during Residency or tour of active duty.
  • Top Pros of being Active Duty Air Force after residency:
  • Captain pay with possible promotion to Major during tour
  • Ability to practice medicine as you see fit without the insurance battles/limitations
  • No need to pay for your own malpractice insurance (unless moonlighting)
  • Typically less work hours allowing for more family and/or moonlighting time
  • Full health and dental benefits – no co-pays, no maximums, unlimited sick days, family covered as well
  • Humanitarian opportunities while being paid on active duty
  • Fully paid continuing education options
  • Military patients must follow your directions and return for follow ups – able to see your treatments through

Possible Cons:

  • May need to deploy in support of our Airman
  • No early guarantee of assignment – Must be somewhat flexible on physical location
