2019 Surgery Leadership Weekend

Developing the future leaders in surgery is one of the core missions we all share. University of Michigan’s Departments of Surgery, Otolaryngology and Urology are once again are hosting the Surgery Leadership Weekend May 17-19th in Ann Arbor for medical students who are applying across North America for residency positions in Surgery, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery.  Funding for room, board, and meals for students selected to participate will be provided.

This year’s theme is Grit and Resiliency in Surgery. The keynote speaker is Doctor Rebecca Minter, MD, A.R. Curreri Distinguished Chair, Department of Surgery at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Eligible students will be applying in general, plastic, vascular, otolaryngology, urology, or cardiothoracic surgery and would be starting residency in Summer 2020. Moreover, most of the participants would be early 4th year medical students and participating in the 2020 Match. The application deadline is March 10, 2019 (the application site is OPEN NOW), with acceptance notifications made on April 8, 2019.
