Kenny Gibbs to discuss science policy and research on career choice of STEM PhDs

Don’t miss the November PhD Career Connections seminar about Science Policy on Wednesday, November 13! The speaker is Dr. Kenny Gibbs, who recently finished a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship at the National Science Foundation. During his AAAS Fellowship, Kenny conducted research about factors that influence career choice of STEM PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. He also drafted sections of the federal government’s STEM education Coordinated Strategic Plan for Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Kenny is currently serving as a Cancer Prevention Fellow with the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Dr. Gibbs received his BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, and his PhD in the Multidisciplinary Program in Immunology at Stanford University. He also completed his postdoctoral training at Stanford under the advising of Garry Nolan. 
 
In this seminar, Kenny will discuss his experience as a AAAS and NCI Cancer Prevention Fellow, and time-permitting, he will present some of his research about factors that influence PhD student career choice.
