Apply for the Emerging Public Policy Leadership Award to receive a travel award to DC
Graduate students in the biological sciences who have demonstrated initiative and leadership in science policy can apply today for the Emerging Public Policy Leadership Award. Recipients obtain first-hand experience at the interface of science and public policy. Winners will receive a trip to Washington, DC, to participate in the Biological and Ecological Sciences Coalition Congressional Visits Day, an annual two-day event that brings scientists to the nation’s capital to advocate for federal investment in the biological sciences, with a primary focus on the National Science Foundation. The 2014 event will be held April 9-10, 2014. Winners will also receive policy and communication training, and information on trends in federal science funding and the legislative process. Applications are open to US citizens currently enrolled in a biological sciences graduate program who have demonstrated interest in and commitment to science policy or science education policy.
