Volunteer opportunity with the Journal of Science Policy and Governance
The Journal of Science Policy and Governance is a student-run, international project that provides graduate students the opportunity and training to serve as editors. The Journal is currently recruiting for the following positions. All editors serve on a volunteer basis and typically remain engaged for at least one academic year. Positions will remain open until filled.

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Eligibility and qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in graduate program (masters or PhD)
- Ideal candidate will have experience in science, policy, and writing/editing
- Must be willing to dedicate 5-10 hours to editorial and management duties per week, workload varies throughout the academic year
- Evidence of strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities required
Duties:
- Work closely with science policy scholars to highlight current and pressing worldwide policy issues in the sciences
- Review incoming submissions, assign manuscripts to editors, correspond with authors
- Participate in development activities, strategic direction, and administration of the Journal
- Provide support to CEO and Director of Outreach as needed in support of furthering the mission of the Journal
- Hire editors with demonstrated writing skills and interests in science policy
- Streamline the editorial process
- Stay current on worldwide science policy topics and organize special issues
ASSISTANT EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Eligibility and qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in graduate program (masters or PhD)
- Ideal candidate will have experience in science, policy, and writing/editing
- Must be willing to dedicate 2-5 hours to editorial and management duties per week, workload varies throughout the academic year
- Strong organizational and communication abilities required
Duties:
- Review submissions, correspond with authors, and provide edits to authors
- Participate in development activities, strategic direction, and administration of the Journal
- Provide support to Editor-in-Chief and CEO as needed in support of furthering the mission of the Journal

ASSOCIATE EDITORS

- Ideal candidates will have experience in science, policy, and writing/editing
- Must be willing to dedicate 1-3 hours to editorial duties per week, workload varies throughout the academic year
Duties:
- Review submissions, correspond with authors, and provide edits to authors
- Provide support to Editor-in-Chief and CEO as needed in support of furthering the mission of the Journal
