The Behavioral Neuroscience Program at Northeastern University is seeking to fill a full-time Academic Specialist (Non-Tenure Track) position. The selected individual will play a significant role in advising and instruction to undergraduate students in one of the fastest growing majors within the College of Science (http://www.northeastern.edu/bns/). The primary functions will be to 1) teach undergraduate courses in neuroscience-related areas within the Psychology and Biology Departments and 2) provide support for both the students and program. The teaching component will include lecture-based courses in existing course offerings and the development of new courses that will focus and broaden the curriculum in diverse neuroscience areas with an added emphasis on behavior. Course area and number each year will be at the discretion of the program Director. Student support will foster successful transition into the university environment, experiential education and career development through research and co-op opportunities, and persistence and retention of students. Program support includes assisting with student recruiting efforts, curriculum development, even t organizing and other activities and projects related to the operation of, and the advancement of, the Behavioral Neuroscience major.

The Behavioral Neuroscience major is a cutting-edge undergraduate degree program consisting of approximately 500 talented students, many of whom go on to pursue prestigious graduate and medical training programs. The successful applicant, in collaboration with existing faculty, will play a critical role in promoting undergraduate student success to enhance their competitiveness for their post-NU careers.

Applicant must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience or a related discipline. Applicant should have relevant college level teaching experience and be capable of creating and teaching courses at a high-level within the neuroscience discipline. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work productively with students, faculty, and staff are essential.
