Job Posting: Scientific Project Manager, Epilepsy Drug Discovery, NINDS
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has an exciting opportunity for a new Scientific Project Manager for the Anticonvulsant Screening Program (ASP), a National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)-funded program for evaluating new drugs in preclinical models for their potential in treating epilepsy disorders. Researchers from academia and industry in the U.S. and abroad submit compounds to the ASP, and screening is performed at a contract facility on a blinded and confidential basis and at no cost to the ASP participant. NINDS is seeking candidates to fill the position of Scientific Project Manager for the ASP. In this key role, the Scientific Project Manager will manage multiple independent projects, working closely with the external participants during the course of the compound testing program. This position will require expert application of project leadership skills in planning, execution and risk management. The Scientific Project Manager will work with the Program Director and the ASP Team to define and monitor project goals and milestone criteria and make data-driven recommendations for project design and prioritization.

The successful candidate for this position will have a scientific degree (e.g. PhD) in health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position; knowledge of drug discovery and development process; significant experience with drug research and development in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent preferred with project leadership experience on cross-discipline drug discovery or development teams; proven leadership and management skills, excellent communication, negotiation and facilitation skills required, both oral and written, and proven ability to interact effectively with senior management, in public forums and within project teams.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The salary ranges from $106,263 to $138,136 per annum and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
