Call for Graduate Applications – Writing Studio
The Vanderbilt Writing Studio is now in the process of hiring Graduate Writing Consultants, the Arts & Science Graduate Writing Fellow, and the Peabody Graduate Writing Fellow for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Writing Consultants primarily hold one-to-one consultation sessions with graduate and undergraduate writers, but also have opportunities to facilitate workshops, writing groups, and other events. The position pays $13.00/per hour. Graduate Consultants work no fewer than 5 hours per week, and may work as many as 15 hours per week if their other departmental duties allow.
The Graduate Writing Fellows work 15-20 hours per week and receive a generous stipend for the academic year. Preference for the fellow positions is given to applicants who have previous writing center experience. Interested candidates must provide:
(1) a letter demonstrating specific interest in the teaching of writing (please indicate whether you are interested in a consultant position, a fellow position, or both),
(2) a curriculum vitae,
(3) a writing sample of no more than 20 pages,
(4) a letter of recommendation from an adviser or faculty member,
(5) a statement of employment availability from a departmental Director of Graduate Studies verifying availability for employment in the Writing Studio,*
*Why we ask for this: Although most graduate fellowships allow students to work an additional nine hours of work, all do not.
Applications can be submitted via e-mail to writing.studio.hiring@vanderbilt.edu. Please write, “Graduate Application” in the subject heading.
Submission Deadline: Friday, February 27th, 9:00am.
