Next Postdoctoral Cafe – “Writing a Better Cover Letter” – 2/26/15
If you have not already had the chance to attend, please come for coffee and pastries to a Postdoctoral ASPIRE Café for Career Planning session to learn more about the Vanderbilt ASPIRE Program and to explore topics in career development and professionalism.
Please join us for our next meeting where we will be discussing:
“Writing a Better Cover Letter”
Learn cover letter basics such as general cover letter structure, what should be/should not be included, & what it means to tailor your letter to the position. We will explore tips for polishing your cover letter, look at some examples of good and not-so-good cover letters, and discuss strategies for making your cover letter stand out. If you dare (!), feel free to bring along your own cover letter, and accompanying job description, to share with the group.
Thursday, February 26
9:00-10:00am
350 Light Hall
New for 2015!
The 2nd Thursday of the month serves as an "orientation" to ASPIRE by providing an overview of the program and helping postdoctoral fellows find out how to become involved in ASPIRE activities. This is the format followed for the fall 2014 sessions and should only be attended once, as the content will be repeated each month.
The 4th Thursday of the month will feature a content-driven session in which a particular area of career development or professionalism will be discussed in an informal setting. Since this topic will change each month, feel free to attend this 4th Thursday meeting as often as you wish.
ASPIRE Café sessions are led by Ashley Brady, PhD., ASPIRE Program Manager, and are offered on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 9am in 350 Light Hall.
