March 2015 ASPIRE Postdoctoral Cafe sessions
Postdocs, if you have not already had the chance to attend, please come for coffee and pastries to a Postdoctoral ASPIRE Café for Career Planning session to learn more about the Vanderbilt ASPIRE Program and to explore topics in career development and professionalism.
New for 2015!
- The 2nd Thursday of the month serves as an "orientation" to ASPIRE by providing an overview of the program and helping postdoctoral fellows find out how to become involved in ASPIRE activities. This is the format followed for the fall 2014 sessions and should only be attended once, as the content will be repeated each month.
- The 4th Thursday of the month will feature a content-driven session in which a particular area of career development or professionalism will be discussed in an informal setting. Since this topic will change each month, feel free to attend this 4th Thursday meeting as often as you wish.
Please join us for our next meeting which will follow the “orientation-format”:
Thursday, March 12th
9:00-10:00am
350 Light Hall
…and mark your calendars for Thursday, March 26th, 9-10am in 350 Light Hall, where we will be discussing:
“Informational Interviewing-your most powerful networking tool”
Have you ever heard of an informational interview? Come learn about one the most powerful, yet underutilized, networking tools available to the job seeker. Find out what an informational interview entails, how to set one up, what questions you should be asking, and how this type of activity can help you explore career options while also growing your professional network.
ASPIRE Café sessions are led by Ashley Brady, PhD., ASPIRE Program Manager.
