About the ACS Publications Graduate Student & Postdoc Summer Institute
ACS Publications will hold its annual Graduate Student & Postdoc Summer Institute program this summer as part of its ongoing innovation process. The Summer Institute brings together creative graduate students and postdocs, who will help ACS Publications redefine how science is published, distributed, and incorporated into the research and learning workflow.
Students will explore new technologies, evaluate applications, and imagine an environment where scientists can better accomplish their scholarly research objectives. Among the topics for discussion are:
Mobile devices
Search/discovery and current awareness tools
Citation management tools
Chemistry-enabled word processors
New publication models
Call for Nominations
This year, the program will take place August 3-7, 2015 at ACS Headquarters in Washington, DC. As in previous years, the participants in this program will benefit from the interactions during our daily activities as well as from the connections they make with ACS staff and with each other.
We are interested in individuals who are currently enrolled in a graduate program in chemistry or related discipline, have been an author on at least one published article, have a demonstrated interest and expertise in technology related to the scholarly communication process, and are proficient SciFinder users. We will accept between 8 and 12 participants for the program. Note that we encourage applications from students currently studying internationally as well as those based in the United States.
We will provide travel expenses to Washington, DC, as well as a stipend of $1000.
