SFARI Bridge to Independence Award program opportunity

Posted by on Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Uncategorized .

Although the quality of autism research has never been higher, the transition from formal mentorship to independent faculty position remains a daunting task for many early-career researchers in the field.

To help support talented early-career scientists in autism at this critical stage, SFARI (Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative) is pleased to announce its new Bridge to Independence Award, a program aimed at supporting ongoing excellence in autism research by identifying promising scientists committed to the field and facilitating their transition to an independent research career at a U.S. academic institution.

Successful applicants will receive a commitment of $150,000 per year for three years, to be used for an autism-relevant project, activated upon assumption of a tenure-track professorship. The first class of eligible applicants will be senior postdoctoral fellows who intend to seek tenure-track faculty positions in 2015 or 2016.

The request for proposals will open 8 June 2015; first-stage proposals are due 28 August 2015.
