TriStar Health Partners is a venture capital (VC) firm focused on early stage investments in healthcare and life sciences.
Since founding TriStar in 2009, the partners have invested in and helped create 23 companies in the healthcare sector. The team has been founding and investing in healthcare innovation since 2003. Prior to TriStar, the principals helped create and invest in 27 companies based on Vanderbilt University intellectual property.
TriStar Health Partners is seeking an individual to perform research market relating to the development of systems of care that route patients diagnosed with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) directly to a catheterization laboratory. This will be for one of TriStar’s portfolio companies and will help support the strategy for a product launch and positioning a company for fund raising and exit.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS
- Internship would be from appx March- May, 2017 (10-12 weeks)
- Appx 5 hours per week.
- Internship will be unpaid
Growth Opportunities:
- Understanding of how active early stage venture investors work with their portfolio companies
- An understanding of many of the operational issues facing early stage companies (in this case, medical device companies)
- Experience performing market research and how it is used
- Learning how an early stage company positions itself for exit and/or fund raising
- Seeing the budgeting process at an early stage company

- Willingness to learn

Eligibility requirements
- Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
- All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
- Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
- Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time. More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted.
