Job Opportunity: Asst Dir Employer Relations and Experiential Ed, University of Chicago
UChicagoGRAD seeks an Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Experiential Education to serve on the career development team. The Assistant Director will conduct relationships with employers and facilitate full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities for both graduate students and postdocs. This position will report to the Associate Director of Graduate Career Development.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
1. (50%) Employer Outreach and Relationship Management
2. (30%) Program/Event Planning and Logistics
3. (10%) Digital Resource Maintenance
4. (10%) Data and Tracking of Employers, Candidates, and Job Opportunities
Recruits employer partners to create job opportunities for UChicago graduate students and postdocs; manages and expands working relationship with existing employer partners. Conducts outreach to UChicago Alumni in collaboration with Alumni Relations and Development to develop and maintain employer relationships. Organizes logistics for employer relations events (employer info sessions, career fairs, campus interviews, etc.). Communicates and collaborates with internal partners to promote employer events to graduate students and postdocs. Works closely with the career development team to optimize employer relations strategy and advise students and postdocs on creation of successful application materials. Develops and implements processes for tracking career outcomes for graduate students and postdocs. Maintains and troubleshoots job listings in the UChicagoGRAD Symplicity jobs site; oversees employer relations content on UChicagoGRAD website. Identifies industry best practices for implementing a graduate and postdoctoral employer relations strategy.
Reporting to the Director of GRAD Career Development & Employer Relations, and in collaboration with the career development team, designs and implements paid internship opportunities for graduate students in industry, nonprofit, and government. Plans and executes information sessions and other events for applicants and interns. Manages recruitment and hiring of interns for the GRAD Global Impact Internship program. With Director, manages relationships with internship hosts. Creates reports on internship outcomes. Develops and expands the GRAD Externship program.
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Advanced degree welcome.
Experience
Experience in higher education administration, sales, recruitment, employer relations, client management, or advertising/marketing are all welcome.
Competencies
Professional communication including proper email and phone etiquette required. Organizational skills are essential; experience with databases or CRM platforms preferred. Expertise in Excel highly preferred. Experience working in an office environment required. General customer service acumen is also essential. Knowledge of Symplicity or other career service platform is preferred.
