Open Science Framework (OSF) Workshops, March 19th
OSF Workshops in March
A trainer from the Center for Open Science will be at Vanderbilt on Monday, March 19th, to train interested campus folk on using the Open Science Framework (OSF). The training will be held at the Central Library in 612A, with times TBD. Everyone from campus is invited! The training will last all day, but will be split into different workshops, so participants are welcome to come and go as they please. Details about the workshops are below:
Practical Steps for Increasing Openness and Reproducibility: An Introduction to the OSF
In this hands-on workshop, participants learn to manage research workflows using the OSF, a free, open source web platform developed by the Center for Open Science. Using example studies, attendees actively participate in creating a reproducible project on the OSF from start to finish. (3 hours)
Using the OSF for IRB and Data Management Planning
This workshop covers how to build project structures that implement a researcher’s data management plans as well as how to reuse those structures as templates. Materials also cover how to use OSF’s permission management along with those project structures to address common IRB concerns about who will have access to what and when they will have it. (1.5 hours)
Automating the OSF
This workshop is designed for practicing researchers who are already using scripts to automate some of their research steps or who have developed full custom software tools for their labs. It focuses on using the existing tools (osf-cli and the R package) to integrate OSF functionalities into the local lab scripts. Example situations and some suggested scripting steps to address them will be provided and practiced/discussed. (1.5 hours)
