Departmental Overview
The California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences at UC Berkeley (QB3-Berkeley) is the Berkeley home of QB3, a partnership between the state of California, private industry, and the UC campuses at Berkeley, San Francisco and Santa Cruz. More than 100 faculty members spanning 12 departments at UC Berkeley are affiliated with QB3-Berkeley. 

QB3-Berkeley is establishing an office to provide professional development opportunities for graduate students and postdocs in the quantitative biological sciences at UC Berkeley.  We are searching for someone to head this new office. 

Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in the quantitative biosciences choose to enter careers in academia, industry, policy, or education, and in roles as scientists, educators, or other professional areas such as marketing, intellectual property, management consulting, and more. QB3-Berkeley’s office will provide opportunities for UCB graduate students and postdocs to explore career options and to develop the foundational skills required for any career. This new staff will develop and oversee these programs. 

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop workshops and programs for quantitative bioscience PhD students and postdocs who are investigating both academic careers and those outside academia. 

• Conduct needs assessments among graduate students and postdocs, and collaborate with faculty and other members of the University community in program design and development.

• Manage program improvement processes.

• Coordinate with colleagues within QB3 to deliver programs within QB3’s mission and to take advantage of QB3’s network and resources.
