Summary
We are currently seeking a Scientific Programs and Educational Outreach Associate to join our team at MPFI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The selected candidate will oversee educational outreach and professional development services for trainees at the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, PhD level and beyond. The selected candidate will also assist with various aspects of scientific programming and institutional operations. Specific duties will include designing/organizing, coordinating, and executing programming related to education and professional development of undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in coordination with the Head of Academic Training Programs; providing individualized career advice and guidance to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; facilitating institutional career development and networking; coordinating and executing the MPFI educational outreach and high-school program in line with MPFI’s contractual requirements; coordinating and implementing educational and scientific outreach with the local community; assisting institutional leadership with various aspects of scientific operations as needed, especially fundraising and advocacy; assisting MPFI events staff with planning, coordination, and execution of internal/external scientific events as needed; and representing MPFI at relevant scientific conferences as needed.
Education and/or Experience
A PhD in neuroscience or related biological/biomedical science is required, in addition to a minimum of one year of postdoctoral experience. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be a strong team-player with demonstrated experience interfacing with graduate students, postdocs, and institutional leadership/administration. Must also possess solid computer skills using MS Office, must possess graphic design skills and experience updating web pages. Experience with web-based database software is preferred.
