Wednesday, November 20, 2019
11:10 am – 12:45 pm
Alumni Hall, Rm 201
Do you have an interesting opinion on a local, regional or national trending news topic? Are you interested in exploring new channels for sharing your thoughts, experiences and relevant research work with a wider audience? An Op-ed is a powerful tool for communicating to a wide public audience. A well written opinion piece can raise awareness about an issue, persuade others to action, and establish the writer as a thought leader in their field. The Graduate Leadership Institute is partnering with Writing Studio to offer How to Write an Op-ed to encourage and empower graduate students and post docs to find their voice in this arena. Workshop participants will hear from a panel of faculty with experience writing opinion pieces and will work with Writing Studio staff to analyze the elements of these types of articles.
Workshop will be capped at 30 participants
Co-sponsored by the Russell G. Hamilton Graduate Leadership Institute and the Writing Studio
