Job Opportunity: Senior Scientist, Bioprocess R&D, Andover, MA
The Sr. Scientist will join a team of scientists and engineers within Bioprocess R&D at the Andover, MA site focused on developing and optimizing mammalian cell culture processes for the production of recombinant proteins, biologics, and gene therapy vectors for early-phase and late-phase clinical trials for human therapeutics.
- The focus for this position will be on media development/optimization and media formulation support for development and manufacturing.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing cell culture experiments in several types of equipment, including flasks, bench-top bioreactors and microbioreactors (Ambr® 15) with the goal of developing robust, scalable, and highly productivity media for cell culture processes that produce therapeutic proteins with appropriate product quality attributes.
- Responsibilities will also include support for development and clinical production facilities on media and media preparation tech transfer, media formulation records review, new media powders generation and qualification.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent with 0-2 years of industry experience.
- Requires competency in aseptic laboratory technique, ability to design complex experiments and interpret data
- Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborative projects, and ability to communicate effectively with scientists and management in a highly matrixed organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Practical knowledge of mammalian cell culture and cell physiology
- Experience developing commercially relevant processes to produce pharmacologically active proteins
- Knowledge of GLP/GMP practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent understanding of statistical methods
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent laboratory skills
