Job Opportunity: Senior Scientist, Cruchaga Lab, Genetics, Washington University, St. Louis, MO
The Cruchaga lab, member of the NeuroGenomics and informatics Center at Washington University School of Medicine, is looking for a Senior Scientist with expertise in genetics, iPSC, cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9, DNA/RNA processing and high throughput screening. The lab is dedicated to advance our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease, other dementias, and stroke, by performing deep molecular profiling of human samples and functional genomics analyses in IPSC models. We are seeking applicants for this senior position to lead a project. This position is responsible for collaborating with the principal investigator on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Collaborates with the PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects. • Assists with grant preparation and reporting. • Prepares and submits papers on research. • Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. • Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Preferred Qualifications • Four years of postdoctoral experience. • Experience in a laboratory setting working with iPSC cell culture. • Knowledge of the brain system and its cell types. • Experience in differentiation of iPSC into neural cell lines. • Experience with DNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, ELISA, ICC/IHC/IF, and gene editing techniques (transduction, transfection, CRISPR). • Strong publication record. • Mouse colony management and rodent handling. • Scientific and grant writing experience. • Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment. • Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications. • Ability to work well independently or as a team member. Required Qualifications Ph.D., M.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and at least three years of postdoctoral experience. Grade R12 Salary Range $61,000.00 – $110,600.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
