Postdoctoral Intramural Research Fellowship Position

Gene Therapy Development Unit,

Genetic Immunotherapy Section,

Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology

Bethesda, MD

Gene Therapy Development for treatment of Genetic Immunodeficiency Diseases

Position Description:

The Gene Therapy Development Unit is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position to work on novel genome editing studies for potential treatment of Inherited Errors of Immunity. There are multiple aspects that are of particular interest; hematopoietic stem cells and their handling, creative strategies to achieve functional gene correction using CRISPR nuclease and related approaches such as base editing and prime editing, and the delivery of editing tools or edited cell products.

In addition to molecular correction of gene sequence, our work demonstrating functional restoration is key and requires knowledge about immunology. This also provides unique opportunities to study biological function of many newly described disease-causing genes. Since the long-term goal is to translate gene correction strategies to treatment of patients, excellent organization of data and documentation is required to support the development of clinical trials.

Requirements:

  • Highly motivated candidate with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in immunology, molecular biology, or related field
  • Experience with flow cytometry, cell culture and animal handing is essential
  • Excellent organizational skills and record keeping
  • Excellent writing skills

To Apply:

Interested individuals should send a cover letter, copy of their curriculum vitae (CV), summary of research interest, and the contact details of three referees to Suk See De Ravin.
