The Amherst College Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in biochemistry at the rank of assistant professor, beginning July 1, 2024. Applicants with expertise in any sub-discipline of experimental biochemistry are encouraged to apply.
Description
The position requires a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field and calls for teaching general chemistry and biochemistry at the undergraduate level. Opportunities for teaching upper-level electives and interdisciplinary courses are also available. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous experimental research program in biochemistry in which undergraduates can substantively participate and to engage fully with ongoing departmental efforts to develop new methods of inclusive pedagogy. Faculty members at Amherst advise senior honors theses and participate in program governance and college-level service.
