Job opportunity: Director, Research Portfolio, Muscular Dystrophy Association
MDA is hiring a Portfolio Director to focus on ALS and other neuromuscular diseases of neurological origin in our program (Spinal muscular atrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth, Friedreich’s ataxia, myasthenia gravis etc). We are looking for someone at the PhD level with a big picture understanding of the field and with particular knowledge of the ALS space. This position reports to the VP for Research.
This person will work closely with the other Portfolio Director (focused on muscle disease) and MDA’s two grant managers to administer MDA’s grant program along with participating in the venture philanthropy program, the Kickstart program (MDA’s in-house gene therapy program for ultra-rare disorders), the Annual Conference and the MOVR clinical database. We are looking for someone who can work in a team but also independently and proactively and who is passionately committed to MDA’s mission. A sense of humor is also highly desirable.
