VUMC Department of Neurology, Division of Movement Disorders seeks a doctoral candidate interested in transiting into clinical research.
This opportunity will position the candidate to pursue an academic career in clinical research or leadership employment in industry designing clinical trials to develop new medications, biologics, and medical devices.
In addition to providing training in fundamental clinical research skills, the position will include a prominent research component within movement disorders, including projects related to deep brain stimulation for early-stage Parkinson’s disease, neuroimaging (metabolic PET, fMRI, tractography, electrode localization), improving methods of screening for spasticity and cervical dystonia, and telehealth. Opportunities include participating in writing grant proposals, designing, and implementing research protocols and surveys, developing data collection methods and databases, performing data analysis, performing neuroimaging processing and analysis, producing abstracts and manuscripts, and presenting at national and international professional society meetings.
