The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Our mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia– by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

 

The Alzheimer’s Association will be offering an internship opportunity for Fall 2024 that will provide meaningful experiences for an individual interested in learning about the development of the scientific programming of the suite of conferences led by the Alzheimer’s Association, including:

 

  • To develop template materials for AAIC Neuroscience Next 2025
    • This may include template educational sessions for publishing, reviewing, networking, and other skills
  • To serve as a liaison between the AAIC Neuroscience Next Hybrid Hub leads and the Alzheimer’s Association team.
  • To assist with the execution of AAIC Neuroscience Next
  • To engage in an interdisciplinary and international scientific work environment outside academia.

 

Internship Details:

  • This is a  part-time internship with a stipend of $1,600, less all applicable taxes and deductions, to be paid out biweekly
  • We expect the intern to work approximately 8-10 hours for 10 weeks remotely on projects determined at the beginning and throughout the internship period. 
  • We are looking for a candidate with project management and interpersonal skills who excels in time and task management. 

The internship will begin on August 12, 2024 and run between 10 weeks into October 18, 2024, with the possibility to extend pending review.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
  • All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
  • Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
  • Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time.  More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted.
  • If you are not in a department supported by the BRET office, we will also require that you complete a form guaranteeing PI approval to participate in this program. Please contact Ashley Brady at ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu for more information.
  • If you are an international student or postdoctoral fellow, your visa status may affect your work eligibility. Please contact Ashley Brady (ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu) to discuss this further.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
