Vanderbilt will be submitting an NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00): https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-23-042.html.

This is a great opportunity for outstanding Ph.D. students completing their dissertation within the next one to two years who are interested in pursuing a career as an independent cancer researcher. Eligible candidates must be in their third or fourth year in a mentored PhD or equivalent research degree program. Further eligibility requirements are located at https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-23-042.html#_Section_III._Eligibility. The award is designed to provide up to six years of support in two phases.

Vanderbilt may nominate one student for this award. The student may work in the lab of either a Vanderbilt or VUMC PI. The Graduate School will be managing the university’s submission along with coordinating final student selection. Once selected, the student and mentor will work with their department or administrative POD to submit the application through Sponsored Programs. The Graduate School will supply the institutional nomination letter.

Directions: Please complete the following information. A faculty review committee will select the institutional applicant.

Internal proposals should include the following:

1. A description of the applicant’s dissertation and research experience (maximum length: one page).
2. A description of the applicant’s long-term career goals and how the F99/K00 will enable the attainment of these goals (maximum length: one page).
3. A signed letter of support from the PI/mentor’s on how their current research supports the applicant’s research area and career goals (maximum length: one page). Please note that your PI/mentor will have to upload the letter of support in InfoReady. We strongly suggest that you start your application and enter your PI/mentor’s information so they will have sufficient time to submit the letter of support by the deadline.

Additional information may be requested.
