Teaching Opportunities with VU Programs for Talented Youth
Please note that these opportunities are for those who are post-qualifying exam and with PI approval!
This information is from the Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth, a unit within Peabody College, that has many compensated opportunities for teaching students on campus or virtually during the summer:
During a typical summer, we operate academic focused day and residential programs for K-12 grade students and virtual mentorship programs for students in 10-12 grade. Our middle and high school students, who submit eligibility documentations as part of their application, take an advanced course taught by a PhD student, Post-Doc, faculty member or content expert. On campus courses typically are one or two weeks long and are proposed by the instructor teaching the class. Because of this design, instructors can propose something of personal interest and expertise and select an optimal grade level to teach. I have shared some additional information about our teaching opportunities at the bottom of this email. We have learned from others that this experience is a great opportunity to perfect a syllabus that might be used with future undergraduate students.
While next summer may seem like a long time away, we are hoping to release course listings to families in late fall. At that time, we will start a full promotion of all our potential offerings for Summer 2025. This is why we are reaching out to you now.
If you are interested in learning more about PTY opportunities, I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you. I would enjoy learning more about your work as well as sharing more about our program and students.
If you would like to talk further, I’ve provided a Calendly link below to schedule a Zoom call. If the available times do not work, please let me know via email a few days/times that would work for you.
