Most job applications for teaching-intensive faculty positions require candidates to write a ‘teaching philosophy” or statement. What is a teaching philosophy, and how do you write one? In this interactive session, Dr. Madhvi Venkatesh, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, Educator Faculty and former Harvard Medical School Teaching Fellow, will provide an overview of teaching philosophies and the role they play in the academic job portfolio. Participants will identify views and experiences that influence their own teaching philosophy and discuss how to translate these experiences into a well-written document to support their job application.
