The Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is now accepting applications for their 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Law and Health Services Research!

About PORTAL

Founded in 2012, PORTAL is one of the largest non-industry-funded research centers in the US studying drug pricing, drug policy, and the clinical, economic, and legal aspects of medication use and costs. Their team includes 4 Harvard Medical School faculty and over 20 research fellows, trainees, and staff with diverse expertise across medicine, law, economics, ethics, and health policy.

Fellowship Details

Applications are invited from researchers with doctoral degrees (J.D., M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent) or who will complete such training by July 2025. Fellows will have an appointment at Harvard Medical School, receive close mentorship from faculty members in PORTAL and the Division, and engage in projects intended to start their careers in law and public health. Fellows have been successful in transitioning to jobs in academia (medicine, law, public health), government, and private practice. Fellowships would begin in July 2025, with fellowship length varying depending on the candidate (minimum: 1 year). Fellows are expected to be based in the Boston area for the duration of their fellowship.

Current and past PORTAL fellows have studied FDA regulation, patents, drug access and costs, and competition in the therapeutic marketplace. Other areas of focus include the relationship between intellectual property and drug costs and availability, ethical issues affecting the pharmaceutical market, drug comparative effectiveness, as well as the development, approval, and evidence-based use of drugs, devices, vaccines, and diagnostics.

The deadline to apply is December 1, 2024. To apply, please submit the following materials using the application form linked below:
