CMEsquared™ is dedicated to improving clinical care and patient outcomes by providing the highest quality education in dermatology for dermatologists and other providers who care for patients with skin disorders. CMEsquared develops both live and enduring CME-accredited activities in collaboration with ACCME-accredited joint providers. Areas of experience and expertise include medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, and important, late-breaking updates in general dermatology. Job Description
Reporting to: Chief Medical Officer
Location: Home office-based (Eastern Time Zone preferred).
CMEsquared is seeking a Medical Writing Intern to assist in creating grants for funding and content for funded activities, under the direction of the Medical Education Grant Writer. The role will involve collaboration with internal team members and external faculty to create grants and activities based on approval of funding.
Responsibilities may include:
- Grants: Collaborate with VP of Educational Development and Medical Education Grant Writer(s) to create grants for funding
- Review and proofread multiple focused needs assessments/grants weekly, proofing supportive literature reviews, learning objectives, and agendas
- Edit grant ‘rewrites’ for resubmission purposes on long-standing initiatives on an as-needed basis
- Content: Collaborate with Medical Content Lead(s) alongside internal and external experts to complete the following key tasks:
- Partner with Medical Content Lead to create high-quality content for medical education activities that meet established educational need, timelines, and specifications as outlined in the original awarded grant application
- Draft project specification documents for internal and external kickoff calls
- Draft, edit, and proofread slides for presentations as needed
- Eg, providing higher resolution images, correct citations, and properly defined abbreviations/acronyms
- Fact-check slide presentations to prepare for CME approval and launch
- Partner with Medical Content Lead to create, edit, and/or review engaging, measurable, referenced pre and post test questions
- Partner with Medical Content Lead to create high-quality content for medical education activities that meet established educational need, timelines, and specifications as outlined in the original awarded grant application
- Outcomes/Engagement:
- Draft promotional email and social media language for inclusion in outreach posts on launched, enduring online activities
- Proofread activity outcomes data to verify educational uptake and unmet educational needs and gaps
- Work on multiple formats and disease areas every week
Qualifications and Skills
- The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to work independently as well as part of a team and must be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment. The candidate also must demonstrate the following:
- Ability to become familiar with new diseases/conditions quickly
- Familiarity with dermatologic conditions a plus
- Expertise researching, compiling, and analyzing clinical and scientific evidence quickly
- Solid editorial (writing and editing) skills and capability to adapt editorial style
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
- Proven ability to effectively set priorities, manage multiple projects/assignments in various stages of development, and meet timelines, all while maintaining high quality standards
- Positive, upbeat personality who communicates concisely and clearly, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with AMA Style Guide
- Strong proficiency Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Ability to become familiar with new diseases/conditions quickly
Details:
- This is a paid internship
- 8-10 hrs per week max
- The internship will start as soon on October 1, 2025, and will run approzimately 10-12 weeks with potential to extend upon review (Oct -Dec)

Eligibility requirements
- Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
- All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
- Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
- Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time. More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted.
