The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a nonprofit organization raising funds for childhood cancer research with two grant types. The Scholar (Career Development) Award is meant to help develop the independent research of highly qualified individuals still early in their careers. The Research Grants are for specific two-year research projects which are hypothesis driven and may be either laboratory, clinical, or epidemiological in nature.

• Award Amount:

• • Career Development Award: up to $110,000/year for three years with an opportunity for up to $115,000/year for two additional years
  • Research Grants: up to $100,000/year for up to two years

• Nomination Slots: 3 VU/VUMC submissions

• • 1 Scholar (Career Development) Award
  • 1 Research Grant
  • 1 Limited Submission Policy Exception if your proposal centers around brain tumors, Burkitt lymphoma or Rhabdoid tumors.

• Eligibility Note:

• • PIs must hold a PhD, MD or DO degree by the effective award date
  • No institutional overhead/indirect funding
