AstraZeneca Postdoctoral Fellowship in Early Oncology Clinical Development for PharmD and PhD Graduates

The AstraZeneca-University of Maryland Clinical Development Fellowship is an exclusive 2-year program geared toward PharmD and PhD graduates with a penchant for clinical research in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Established in 2009, the fellowship has paved the career path for numerous to enter clinical development.

Two fellowship position will be recruited for in the 2026-2028 cycle:
1. PharmD Fellow – located at the Boston, MA or Gaithersburg, MD office
2. PhD Fellow – located at the Gaithersburg, MD office Fellows in the program will be involved in the early clinical development of oncology therapeutics. These pharmaceutical products may include biologics and small molecules, as well as exciting new modalities (including ADCs and Immunotherapies).

 

The key learning objectives of the fellowship program are to understand: • Scientific research process (including hypothesis generation and development) • Clinical Development role and part of a Study Team • Protocol development and study design • Clinical development plans • Understanding of oncology efficacy and safety assessments • Data analysis, interpretation, and presentation • Preparation and review of safety narratives • Presentation to internal and external stakeholders • Professional communication including verbal and written • Preceptorship of 4th year PharmD students from University of Maryland
