ASPIRE with SciPhD: Hybrid Business of Science Certificate Program
The ASPIRE Program is excited to partner with SciPhD this semester and offer the self-paced hybrid module Business of Science Certificate Program. We will be offering 25 seats to this program and will be kicking things off in February with a group introductory session on Thursday February 19th at 11:30a (lunch provided). There will also be an interactive session being held virtually date TBD that will coincide with the completion of modules 1-5.

Deadline: Friday, January 30, 2026 at 12:00 noon.
Eligibility: Open to Vanderbilt biomedical sciences and chemistry postdoctoral fellows and PhD students who have passed their qualifying exams before February 2026.
Participation Expectations
This self-paced module is designed to fit alongside the busy schedules of PhD students and postdocs while still providing a structured, goal-oriented learning experience. Participation is largely self-directed after an initial in-person welcome session (refreshments provided) held synchronously with the course instructor. Additionally there will be an interactive, live virtual session about mid-way through the course, and participants are expected to complete the first five course modules prior to this time. Applicants are expected to enroll with the intention of completing all module components and the final exam required to earn the certificate. We encourage you to apply if you are ready to set aside ~1-2 hours/week to engage with the material and see the program through to completion.

Topics and time commitment per module:
Module 1 – Foundations 1.25 hours
Module 2 – Communications- 2.5 hrs
Module 3- Developing People (Team Leadership) – 1 hour
Module 4- Applied Networking- 1 hour
Module 5- Project Management- 1 1/4 hours
Module 6- Team Performance- 40 minutes
Module 7- Financial Literacy- 50 minutes
Module 8- Negotiations- 1 hour
