Job Opportunity: Senior Data Scientist, Tenet Healthcare, Nashville, TN

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a senior data scientist. The senior data scientist will lead the development of analytic products that identify and address high priority clinical and business operational challenges through data science and predictive analytics.

They should have a keen interest in the study of healthcare delivery, and a passion for identifying and answering questions that will help Tenet advance its market position by reducing waste and identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve care delivered in our national healthcare system.

 

Requirements
  • PhD in statistics, computer science, machine learning or other quantitative discipline
  • Demonstrated track record of producing high quality work product as a lead or first author
  • Extensive record in presenting scientific results
  • 10+ yrs experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • Expertise in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
  • A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
  • Expert knowledge of an analysis tool, preferably R
  • Expertise with relational databases and SQL
  • Knowledge of how to create information-rich visualizations and routinize and automate such processes
  • Fluency with at least one scripting language such as Python desirable
  • Clinical/Healthcare background a plus
  • Critical thinking skills and demonstrated ability to focus on details
  • Ability to learn quickly and work on multiple projects simultaneously, and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and stimulating environment

 

 

Responsibilities
  • Lead projects from conception to implementation including identifying and collaborating with stakeholders, establishing correct analysis plans, and partner to create an operational plan
  • Collaborate with clinical and functional leaders and other team members to identify and prioritize opportunities to create greater value, answer important questions, and implement analytic-driven solutions
  • Interface with frontline staff including hospitals and business team members across hospitals, physician groups, and ambulatory centers to test and implement solutions
  • Identify relationships between disparate data sets that can be used to increase the value of care delivery
  • Identify opportunities for collection or aggregation of new data and enhanced use of existing data sources
  • Routinize analyses and design new analytics products
  • Design product implementation experiments and evaluate the results
