Job Posting: Postdoctoral Position in structural mechanisms of signaling molecules, Kuriyan Lab, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN
The Kuriyan lab at Vanderbilt University is seeking a creative, motivated, and highly skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join a project aimed at understanding tyrosine kinases and signaling pathways in mammalian cells. The proteins involved include, but are not limited to, the tyrosine kinases BCR-Abl, ZAP-70, Syk, BTK and ITK, and proteins involved in Ras signaling. The lab uses high-throughput mutagenesis strategies combined with structure-based reasoning to advance our understanding of these molecules, with a particular emphasis on drug-resistance mutations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of expertise in E.coli or mammalian expression and purification of proteins. Experience with reconstitution of proteins in a supported lipid bilayer would be a plus. Deep mutational scanning to analyze protein structure and function will play a major role in the research and experience with DNA library cloning strategies, or at minimum DNA manipulation strategies, along with experience with next generation sequencing would be preferred. Skill in analytical biochemistry and experience with, or strong interest in, protein structure and the dissection of structural mechanisms will be an asset. Experience with CryoEM to determine protein structures would also be a plus.
