VI4 and ArtLab are looking for a Program Coordinator intern.

The program coordinator internship with VI4 AiR program will coordinate and implement art-science programming for a virtual summer program. The coordinator will work closely with the VI4 team to organize workshop opportunities, training, and check-ins for the VI4 AiR participants.

The coordinator will also support and guide lab-artist partnerships, ensuring they have a valuable and impactful experience. They will work closely with the VI4 team and Kendra H. Oliver to gain valuable experience in program management, implementation, and evaluation.

A successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, be able to work independently, and firmly commit to providing a positive and engaging art-science program. An interest in science art and science communication is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Help organize workshop opportunities, training, and check-ins
  • Facilitate lab-artist partnerships via emails or virtual meetings as needed
  • Assist the VI4 AiR Science Writing intern by collecting data on the lab personnel, research, and artwork

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • Internship will run May-August 2023.
  • Internship is unpaid
  • Part-time (~10 hours per week), flexible and a mix of on campus and remote work.

Eligibility requirements

  • Applicants must be a current Vanderbilt University PhD student or a current postdoctoral fellow.
  • All PhD students must have completed all coursework for their degree prior to the start of the internship.
  • Biomedical PhD students must also have passed their qualifying exams before the application deadline.
  • Students and postdocs may not participate in more than one internship at a time.  More than one application may be submitted at a single time, but only one position can be accepted.
  • If you are not in a department supported by the BRET office, we will also require that you complete a form guaranteeing PI approval to participate in this program.  Please contact Ashley Brady at ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu for more information.
  • If you are an international student or postdoctoral fellow, your visa status may affect your work eligibility. Please contact Ashley Brady (ashley.brady@vanderbilt.edu) to discuss this further.
