The Vanderbilt English Language Center (ELC) supports the internationalization of the university and the School of Medicine Basic Sciences through academic support programming for international students, faculty, and postdocs.

Our approach is to teach how language is contextualized within a given context.  We find that our international community members with even the most advanced language proficiency learn a great deal about the U.S. academic and professional culture, language, and norms.

Our international School of Medicine Basic Sciences students, faculty, and postdocs may:

*      enroll in our Academic Writing, Academic Speaking, and Pronunciation courses.

*      participate in 1-to-1 speaking and writing consultations at the ELC.

*      engage with bespoke resources, such as our Email Writing Guide and our Virtual Reality

        modules on Networking and Small Talk.
