Academy of College Teaching Fall 2025
The Academy of College Teaching (ACT) is a ten-week, cohort-based workshop series for Vanderbilt graduate students and postdocs who are preparing for careers in college-level teaching. The program covers course design, classroom techniques, and professional development strategies for early-career instructors. Participants leave the program with teaching resources they can use in future courses, such as course designs and lesson plans, as well as a completion badge that they can list on their CVs to demonstrate their commitment to their professional development as teachers.
Here are a few testimonials from recent participants:
- “I feel a lot more prepared for tackling lesson planning and utilizing/researching teaching strategies to adapt to the courses I plan to teach.”
- “It’s been very helpful to see examples through the lectures, readings, and as shared by other students. The instructors have created a great space for open discussion and plan engaging activities.”
- “It was incredibly helpful to go a step further than just naming activities to strengthen teaching, but actually doing them in class helped me see how I could implement them in my own future courses.”
- “I would love to see a future generation of STEM professors who implement what is taught in this class.”
The Fall 2025 ACT series will begin on September 9 and end on November 12. The deadline to register is August 21, and participants will be notified of their enrollment status by August 26.
