BioCentury Inc.
Job Title: Biopharma Analyst
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Team: Biopharma Intelligence
Position Type: Full-Time

About BioCentury
BioCentury provides independent deep-dive analysis, high-quality data, and high-impact networking events for biopharmaceutical executives and investors in the U.S., Europe and Asia. We operate a fully integrated multimedia platform — including electronic publications, online data tools, interactive websites, webcasts, and both digital and in-person conferences. From discovery through commercialization, we help clients navigate strategic questions and assess scientific, regulatory and commercial risk.

About the role
This Biopharma Analyst role will focus on the science behind drug development and will specialize in visual explanations of biology. You will use BioRender and related tools to diagram disease pathways, therapeutic targets, mechanisms of action, and technology platforms — distilling complex concepts into clear visuals that highlight mechanistic rationale, differentiation, and strategic tradeoffs across disease areas.
You will generate value-added intelligence for executives and investors primarily through data visualizations and explanatory graphics, either as standalone items or in support of BioCentury’s team of writers.

Working under the direction of a senior analyst, you will analyze data from BioCentury and external sources and present it in formats that clearly communicate key takeaways. Projects range from rapid-turnaround mechanistic figures to deep visual analyses, including comprehensive landscapes of drug mechanisms in crowded therapeutic areas. A major focus will be pathway maps, MoA diagrams, and platform schematics that clarify differentiation and strategic implications.

Your work will support BioCentury’s mission to inform strategic decision-making in biomedical innovation through data-driven analysis, storytelling and contextual insight.

Improving the efficiency of our processes for biological visualizations is also a priority.

Key Responsibilities
• Create publication-quality biological visuals (primarily in BioRender) including disease pathway maps, target/MoA diagrams, and platform schematics across therapeutic areas
• Translate complex mechanistic concepts into clear, accurate graphics that highlight rationale, differentiation, and strategic tradeoffs for an executive/investor audience
• Map crowded therapeutic areas, comparing competing targets, modalities, and approaches at a glance
• Synthesize and validate scientific information from BioCentury data and external sources; ensure visual outputs are precise, well-sourced, and internally consistent
• Partner with senior analysts and writers to develop figures that support stories and slide decks, explain key concepts, and strengthen BioCentury’s deep-dive analyses
• Rapidly produce high-priority mechanistic figures on deadline, while also executing deeper, multi-figure analyses for larger projects
• Develop and maintain reusable visual frameworks, templates, iconography, and style standards to improve consistency and speed
• Improve the efficiency of BioCentury’s biological-visualization workflow by documenting processes, streamlining handoffs, and testing new tools/approaches
• Maintain a current view of emerging targets, modalities, and platform technologies, and proactively suggest visuals that clarify what’s changing in the field

How You’ll Be Evaluated
• Analytical rigor: Ability to extract meaningful insights from complex data and communicate them clearly in a visual format
• Content quality: Accuracy, clarity and utility of your content
• Editorial judgment: Understanding of what matters to our audience and how to prioritize it
• Collaboration: Willingness to work cross-functionally and respond to editorial feedback
• Initiative: Proposing new projects and contributing ideas that enhance our coverage
• Responsiveness and reliability: Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and follow through on commitments

Minimum Qualifications (revised)
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., life sciences, biomedical engineering, public health, pharmacology, bioinformatics, or related discipline)
• Demonstrated ability to diagram and visualize biological concepts and communicate them clearly to expert audiences
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple scientific sources
• Proficiency with — or the ability to quickly learn — visualization and design tools (e.g., BioRender; Adobe Illustrator, Canva, AI image generators, or similar)
• Excellent written communication skills for figure annotations, captions, and concise scientific explanations to expert audiences
• Foundational understanding of the biopharma industry, including clinical trials, drug development stages, and key regulatory agencies

Preferred (but not required) Experience
• Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD/MD/PharmD), biomedical engineering, or related field
• Experience building comparative landscapes of therapeutic areas (e.g., target-by-modality matrices, MoA maps, competitive differentiation visuals)
• Familiarity with biopharma business context (e.g., licensing, partnering, financing)

Ethical Standards
All BioCentury employees are expected to meet the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism. Biopharma Analysts are entrusted with proprietary data and are expected to uphold strict information quality and integrity guidelines at all times.
