The Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position, preferably at the assistant professor level. This search is associated with the BrainHub (http://www.cmu.edu/research/brain/), a campus-wide initiative to expand brain research across multiple disciplines within the university and with significant investment in facilities for imaging, animal handling, computing and high-throughput technologies.
Applications are encouraged from outstanding individuals whose research addresses molecular mechanisms of neural function and disease including, but not limited to, the formation and function of neural circuits, synaptic biology, the molecular basis of neurological disease, and the application of new experimental technologies (e.g., imaging or sequencing tools for real-time analysis of neural function, protein localization, or gene expression in discrete neural subsets or individual cells). The Department of Biological Sciences provides a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment that integrates modern biological research at cellular and sub-cellular levels of organization (see http://www.cmu.edu/bio).
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition, an interdisciplinary and collaborative group of neuroscientists from Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh.
