The Arete Program at the University of Chicago is seeking to fill  the position of Associate Director for Research Program Development and will report to the Executive Director of Arete in the Office of the Vice President for Research and National Laboratories.  The individual hired will be part of the Arete team, the University's research accelerator (http://arete.uchicago.edu).  

In brief, they are looking for a highly entrepreneurial individual who is passionate about and understands the value of research; possesses the high level of writing skill necessary to translate complex research ideas from across a broad spectrum of disciplines (including basic science research) to a general intelligent audience; can work closely with faculty to develop and manage research projects; experience working with federal funding agencies; is independent but performs well as a member of a team; is able to identify, pursue and cultivate research projects; understands the complexity of university culture; and possesses superb skills of diplomacy.
