Academic Program Manager, Graduate School of Biomedical Science

Description

This position will assists the Sr. Associate Dean Graduate Education and Academic Program Development in a variety of administrative duties in support of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, as well as coordinating and administering policies and procedures.

Office of Postdoctoral Affairs:

  • Manage GSBS administrative issues for postdoctoral research fellows, including appointments.
  • Assist in executing a strategic plan for structured academic support activities to enhance BCM’s training environment for Postdoctoral Fellows.
  • Coordinate all assessment-related activities for the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and prepare reports for BCM Deans and other senior leaders.
  • Implement and maintain a centralized repository for BCM-wide postdoctoral achievement-related data as well as prepare reports and communicate with BCM and external constituencies.
  • Assist leadership in independently managing special and ongoing projects, including data collection and analysis to inform BCM leader’s decisions.
  • Lead orientations for new postdoctoral researchers and create events focused on integrating new postdoctoral researchers into the BCM community.
  • Serve postdoctoral scholars and their faculty mentors with onboarding and best practices pertaining to NIH recommendations and guidelines for research training.
  • Serve as a liaison to or representative of committees and working groups focused on postdoctoral fellows; strengthen existing and build new relationships.
  • Coordinates educational activities for postdoctoral research trainees; work closely with Career Development Office to create other opportunities for postdoctoral academic and professional development.
  • Develop content and/or coordinate communication pertaining to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs website, handbook, and policies.

General Administrative duties:

  • Distribute surveys, compiles, evaluates and reports relevant statistics, including event evaluation forms, periodic and exit evaluations. 
  • Manage all GSBS administrative aspects and verification requirements for graduate student graduation.
  • Coordinates GSBS (student and faculty) participation in BCM Graduation ceremony .

Education: 
Required: Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Education or relevant degree determined by HR. 
Preferred: Master degree or PhD.

  • Required: Four years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred: Experience working in higher education; experience working with Post-Doctoral Programs.
  • Experience using social media and other online resources as a communication tool
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse constituencies.
  • Understanding of biomedical postdoctoral training and NIH guidelines preferred.
