Job description

StemSynergy Therapeutics, Inc has an opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist to join our laboratory in Nashville, TN. This position is focused on medicinal chemistry in the area of cancer drug discovery.

Job Responsibilities:

· The successful candidate will plan and execute multistep synthetic pathways compatible with rapid analog development of small molecules for discovery and lead optimization.

· Work effectively in collaboration with team members in the areas of molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, molecular informatics, ADME, structural biology, chemical development, and other key functions.

· Assist with the analysis of screening data, perform literature reviews, design, propose, and execute all medicinal chemistry plans, coordinate chemistry and biology data to support compound progression and patent strategies; Supervise and direct synthetic chemistry activities at contract research organizations (CROs) or internally; safely conduct multi-step synthetic organic reactions under the guidance of the director of medicinal chemistry.

· Laboratory responsibilities include set-up of reaction apparatus, addition of reagents and solvents, monitoring reactions, work-up, separation, purification (recrystallization, distillation, chromatography, etc.) and analysis (NMR, IR, melting-point, etc.).

· Other tasks include general oversight and maintenance/organization of the laboratory.

Job Qualifications:

· Applicants should possess superior intellectual ability, a strong record of previous accomplishments, hold a Ph.D in organic or medicinal chemistry or a MSc degree with appropriate experience.

· Experience with LCMS/HPLC (especially Agilent systems) is preferred.

· Candidate must have 5+ years laboratory experience in the synthesis, purification and characterization of organic compounds.

· Knowledge of ChemOffice and SciFinder are required.

· Experience with computer aided drug design is preferred

· Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· US citizenship or permanent residency required.

· English must be your first language.

· Experience in writing grant applications preferred
