Join our cross functional team of veterinarians, scientists, and analysts in data mining, modeling and transforming this data into medical and business insights. This team collaboratively produces results that greatly impact the company, product medical messaging, the cutting edge of animal health, and above all, our patients!
As a Biostatistician at IDEXX, you will be contributing to sound experimental structures, statistical analysis plans, and statistical analyses for prospective, retrospective, and observational studies for clinical trials and studies utilizing our patient health data.
As part of the CAG (Companion Animal Group) Medical Research Support team, you will be joining other internal and external leading research investigators to further the understanding of world class veterinary medicine and diagnostics.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops experimental structure and statistical analyses plans collaborating with internal and/or external scientists, engineers, regulatory, medical affairs and other subject matter experts.
- Applies rigorous statistical methods to analyze studies. Summarizes and presents information, recommendations and data for discussion and decision making within the organization and to senior leadership.
- Communicates and works with team to publish peer review publications, commercial materials, and other scientific updates through various technological and interpersonal mediums.
- Consults with review boards, core teams, steering committees on studies designs, analyses and statistical methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- PhD or Masters in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Engineering or PhD in Biological Sciences, with experience in applying statistical principles in a biological (immunoassay or instrumentation) environment strongly preferred.
- Candidates with 1-4 years of experience preferred
- Data visualization experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in machine learning/ artificial intelligence a plus.
- Salary and grade level will be commensurate with experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong experience with statistical programming (R or SAS) and proficiency with EXCEL and JMP/Minitab or equivalent statistical software.
- Excellent communication and teaching ability; can communicate complex statistical methods in a manner that is understandable to recipients of statistical analyses.
- Knowledge of Sensitivity and Specificity measurements including method comparison and test validation.
- Knowledge of standard measurement systems statistical methods, generalized linear models, categorical data analysis, survival analysis, repeated measures, sample size determination and experimental design including response surface, mixture designs, fractional factorial screening designs, split plots and full factorials.
- Results oriented, self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with research and engineering teams; external collaborations (KOLs, contractors, vendors, etc.).
- Ability to frame a complex diagnostic question appropriately, develop an analytical strategy, assemble the relevant data and results to clearly communicate a coherent set of conclusions.
- Demonstrated ability to produce written reports that succinctly describe the study purpose, experimental structure, statistical analysis and conclusions & recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to understand unique situations and adjust experimental structure and statistical analyses as appropriate.
- Investigative mindset; able to probe into new areas and surface new learning.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: General office environment. Flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week. May occasionally visit university and laboratory environments. Occasional travel as needed.
