VMS Dance

Posted by on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Student Activities .

VMS Dance is a club that welcomes people of all dance backgrounds and experience (from “none” to “formally trained” to “prior competitive dancer”). Group dance lessons are offered every two to four weeks, where we spend one hour learning the steps to a choreographed routine or the basics of a dance style. Our most popular lessons are Latin and hip-hop, but swing and bhangra have also been featured, and people who would like to teach their favorite style of dance are welcome to lead a lesson! In addition to these lessons, we organize social outings to show off our skills around Nashville and take lessons from other Nashville dancers.

VMS Dance also teaches entering VMS1s the basics of swing dancing for nights out on Broadway, and we perform annually in at least one large school-wide event, which has included the Dr. Vanderbilt Pageant, Cadaver Ball, Second Look Weekend, and Parents’ Weekend. We have even been featured on national television on National Dance Day 2016 in So You Think You Can Dance!

So take a break from your studies to spend time with friends and meet students from other classes! You’ll be able to use your dance skills at other social events (like the many weddings that pop up during this time in life), or you may even impress that special someone! đŸ˜‰
