New Year’s Eve in Nashville

Posted by on Monday, January 22, 2018 in Nashville .

One of my favorite things about living in Nashville is that friends and family from all over the country want to come visit me in such a fun city. My best friends from high school and college came to Nashville so that we could ring in the New Year together. We went to Jack Daniel's Music City Midnight, a free concert at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park featuring headliner country/rock star Keith Urban. My friends were not very familiar with country music, but had an awesome time and were in awe over Keith Urban's electric guitar solos. In fact, this relatively new event was recently named the readers' choice for the best place to ring in the new year, according to USA Today. At the stroke of midnight, we watched the music note drop to a countdown by the crowd. It was like New Year's Eve in New York City without the adult diapers. Keith Urban played another set after midnight and at one point was joined onstage by his wife, Nicole Kidman, and their adorable daughters. The crowd was fun and energetic, but it was super easy to catch a Lyft downtown and a taxi back home to crash and sleep in until our ridiculously large late afternoon lunch the next day.
