Vanderbilt Educational Garden Initiative (VEGI)

Posted by on Monday, September 24, 2018 in Student Activities .

VEGI aims to promote healthy eating and to encourage ownership over food choices. We build community gardens to provide fresh produce for patients at Vanderbilt’s student-run free clinic, Shade Tree, and for the greater Nashville community. We also host educational sessions and cooking demonstrations for kids, volunteer with Ronald McDonald House and the Nashville Food Project, and host fun activities for medical students. Our first event of this year was a pool party, in which we grilled up some kabobs (with fresh vegetables of course), discussed our ideas for the upcoming year, and hung out with students from every class!
