The Department of Chemistry and Biology invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Biomedical Science. The appointments will be at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a biomedically-related field, postdoctoral experience and an outstanding research record. The new faculty member must have the ability to establish and maintain a strong, independent, externally funded research program and to demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. These positions commence July 1st 2014, subject to final budgetary approval.
Molecular Biology/Genetics
The new faculty member will have broad expertise in molecular biology and/or molecular genetics, with strengths in, but not limited to, processes related to DNA repair and replication, chromatin assembly and remodeling, gene expression mechanisms, epigenetic mechanisms and models of genetic diseases.
Cellular microbiology/immunology
The new faculty member will have broad expertise in immunity and/or cellular microbiology, with strengths in, but not limited to, processes related to host-pathogen interactions, mechanisms of pathogenesis, cell and molecular biology of immunity and infectious diseases, autoimmunity and/or the role of inflammation in health and disease.
The Department of Chemistry and Biology offers B.Sc. programs in Biology, Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences and is the home department for M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in Molecular Science. The successful applicant will complement a department with current strengths in Environmental Biology and Microbiology; Cell and Molecular Biology; and Chemistry.
