Tenure-Track Faculty Position

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Physics or a related field with a minimum of one year of relevant post-doctoral experience. Candidates should provide a record of scholarly activity (involving students whenever possible) as evidenced by research publications, as well as a demonstrated potential for effective teaching of physics and/or biology classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment, and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. As a University dedicated to engagement, service and the public good, the successful candidate will be expected to join faculty, staff, students and administrators in a commitment to these purposes.
A prospective candidate will have proven expertise in computational biophysics. S/he will be expected to develop undergraduate and graduate courses in computational physics and/or quantitative biology, revamp the physics department’s existing BS Biophysics Option and create a path that will lead to the creation of a MS degree in biophysics for which s/he would play a significant role. A successful applicant must be interested in mentoring and working closely with undergraduate and Master’s program graduate students both in the classroom and in research. S/he will be expected to seek external funding for both her/his own research as well as for the educational activities outlined above.
Duties: In addition to teaching, duties include student advisement, engaging in scholarly activity, and committee service for the Department, the College, and the University.
Salary: Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
