Job Posting: Tenure-Track, Neuro Oncology Program, NCI
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), both parts of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), are accepting applications for several Tenure-Track or Senior Investigator positions for laboratory research related to brain tumors. These positions, which include both mid-level and senior positions, represent the core of a major expansion of the NIH Neuro-Oncology Program and constitute exciting opportunities to join a growing trans-institutional research team. The expanded Program will promote and support collaborations across the basic, translational, and clinical research spectrum to develop novel experimental therapeutics for individuals with primary central nervous system (CNS) malignancies. Areas of research laboratory focus will include: 1)The molecular and genetic study of primary glial neoplasms (including signal transduction pathways, tumor mutations, epigenetics, and other related aspects of tumor biology) with the ultimate goal of finding new therapies; 2) Investigations into the biology of brain tumor metabolism and as a therapeutic target; and 3) Brain tumor immunology and immunotherapy.

Investigators in the NINDS intramural program conduct research in the basic, translational, and clinical neurosciences at the NINDS. Their specific interests cover a broad range of neuroscience research including neurobiology, neuroimmunology, and advanced brain imaging that have direct relevance to brain tumor research. The successful candidate should have a M.D. or Ph.D. degree and at least three years of post-doctoral training in a pertinent research area for tenure-track candidates. Applications from more senior investigators with an established research record are welcomed and encouraged. Highly qualified candidates will have experience in the development and execution of research projects, outstanding ability to lead a research team, and be highly collaborative. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Candidates may be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or eligible for a visa that will enable work in the U.S.
